First up, if you got the email about the Portugal contest & it had the France picks in there, very sorry about that! Have a new system which i'm learning & whilst it is going to be better in the long run I am not the most tech savvy user haha! Now, on to the picks, the first tier I have Julian Wilson, what a win in France & putting him back in the conversation, our last Aussie hope for 2018. My second pick is Gabriel Medina if it gets solid & perfect in Portugal expect Gabby to be getting spat out of a few when it matters.
The count down is on for Teahupoo & lets hope we see the guys pulling into some monsters! Straight into the picks & for my top tier I have gone with Julian Wilson & Gabriel Medina for obvious reasons, with John still out injured, I feel like either of these two could take it out.
Getting into the second of the year now & looking forward to Jbay starting. To get straight into the picks for my top tier I have picked Julian Wilson, Im hoping this is his year with no John to worry about & him sitting on top of the ratings. My second pick is Gabriel Medina, there was so many to choose from but I feel like he is ready for another run at the title in this second half of the year!
This one is exciting! Back to Keramas for the WSL event. Its hard because apart from the Mad Hueys contest there is not much to go on other than highlights from four years ago, which is actually worth a look on the video we have posted. For my picks, I have gone & given it a shake with the most exciting surfers I can find, the first one being Julian Wilson, it's looking like John is going to maybe have a bit of a World Title Gap year so to speak & I would love to see Julian bring a world title home to the Sunny Coast.
Two contests in & while I started with a hiss & a roar, it was short lived for me at Bells & I ended up in the middle of the field. For Margarets, I have thrown a bit of caution to the wind to see what might happen! My top tier picks are Julian Wilson & Owen Wright, both should do a good job, as they are experienced out there & plenty of swell is on the way.
Here we are ready for the Bells stop of the 2018 WSL tour! Congrats to Antone Nulley from Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast who took out the first round at Snapper. Probably should mention the other person from Coolum Beach, Julian Wilson who actually won the contest, was so good to see the Sunny Coasters smash it down there.
Here we are again, contest number 5 & bogey Brazil out of the way. Congratulations to Adriano Desouza on a much deserved win on his home turf! Once again, I was not able to pick my nose. Congratulations to everyone who did well & continues to do so, we are nearly half way to giving the boards away!
This contest, if your game to listen, I think Owen Wright is going to go a long way in Fiji, John John Florence also. Get Kelly in there also & don't forget Gabriel Medina who has ruled Fiji in recent years also.
This year has been nuts if your a fan of the surfing game & if your reading this then I am guessing you are ? Who would have seen Wilko take the yellow jersey at Snapper then have another win & a final under his belt after J Bay to still be on top coming into the final half of the season! I heard an inside whisper of a top Aussie claiming that he thought Italo Ferreira would win the title this year, which could still happen, but no predictions about Wilko.
I have to say, alot of selling surfing products online, or any products i imagine is spent at a desk, researching, packing, uploading, liasing the list goes on. This is a daily occurence, so if there is a surf contest online, it will be on, all day, whilst the daily routine goes on. Point is, i have watched a lot of contests, a heap of heats & thousands of waves. The point after that is, i am slightly concerned at how the Quiksilver Pro ended up on Friday.
Julian Wilson & the year 2014 is probably something he would like to forget. Competitively anyway. There is still one contest to go & obviously the Triple Crown, so there is a chance to salvage something on the contest scene & as a fellow Sunny Coaster, i want to see the man fire up & have some luck go his way. I am pretty sure i watched him take care of Gabriel Medina in the Prime event in Brazil last night round 4 which would have been a little confident boost for him.
Future surfing World Champions. An interesting thought came to me while talking to a friend the other day about where the surfing world is headed, with the arrival on the scene of guys like John John Florence, Julian Wilson, Gabriel Medina to name a few.
