I finally have something to talk about, cracking the top 20 of our comp for the first time in over a year I would think! Hard to believe we are at Brazil already, halfway into the season & overall I think that I am only sneaking into the top 100 of our comp, it is not looking good for me saving Tradewind Surf's money & winning my own board. First pick for the Brazil contest is my favourite non Aussie surfer John John Florence. The second surfer I have picked is Italo Ferreira.
Already into the fourth contest of the WSL year & the second Aussie leg. Keramas was one to watch & so was Bells meaning it has been a pretty good start to the year. I had another ordinary showing at Keramas but better than Bells, I think in part because the top ten fell to pieces in the round of 32.
I think that I came last in my Bells picks, so am sorry if you listened to anything I said regarding those picks. The Bali Pro is the next cab off the rank, this contest is pretty exciting the waves are usually rippable, so hoping for the same this year. Back where he belongs on top of the world, John John is my first pick for Keramas, obvious reasons. Italo is my next pick rounding out the top tier. In my middle tier Yago Dora & Mikey Wright are in there as is Julian Wilson & Kanoa Igarashi.
It's like the season never finished, straight back into it & over to Bells for the original Easter contest! We have nearly 150 Tradewind Surfers in the league, so the winner needs to put in hard work to take home the board this year! Straight into my picks & I have switched it up, but am feeling good about it. My Top tier has Wade Carmichael as I feel his surfing suits Bells & the guy is a giant killer, no surfer seems to phase him, my next Bells picks is Jordy Smith bru, he rips at Bells & has rung the bell before.
Back again for another year! Snapper kicks off in a few days & we have fresh new competition for Tradewind Surf Fantasy Surfer competition. This year the board for the winner of the year is back up for grabs. Straight into my picks for Snapper & I have heard that the waves might not be great for the window, anything can change but my first pick is Filipe Toledo for obvious reasons in small surf. My next pick is Julian Wilson. He has a great history with the Quikky Pro & he is going to be looking to go one better for 2019.
The end of another year! It all comes down to Pipe, with Filipe Toledo, Julian Wilson & Gabriel Medina still in the hunt. Medina has to mess it up pretty badly to lose I would think, but Julian is a Pipemaster & I would love to see him snatch it. The report is for solid surf so fingers crossed. Into the picks now & I have picked Julian & Owen in my top tier for obvious reasons, I am sure Owen would love to tame the beast, were he sustained the chronic injury that would keep him on the sidelines for a long time!
First up, if you got the email about the Portugal contest & it had the France picks in there, very sorry about that! Have a new system which i'm learning & whilst it is going to be better in the long run I am not the most tech savvy user haha! Now, on to the picks, the first tier I have Julian Wilson, what a win in France & putting him back in the conversation, our last Aussie hope for 2018. My second pick is Gabriel Medina if it gets solid & perfect in Portugal expect Gabby to be getting spat out of a few when it matters.
The count down is on for Teahupoo & lets hope we see the guys pulling into some monsters! Straight into the picks & for my top tier I have gone with Julian Wilson & Gabriel Medina for obvious reasons, with John still out injured, I feel like either of these two could take it out.
Getting into the second of the year now & looking forward to Jbay starting. To get straight into the picks for my top tier I have picked Julian Wilson, Im hoping this is his year with no John to worry about & him sitting on top of the ratings. My second pick is Gabriel Medina, there was so many to choose from but I feel like he is ready for another run at the title in this second half of the year!
This one is exciting! Back to Keramas for the WSL event. Its hard because apart from the Mad Hueys contest there is not much to go on other than highlights from four years ago, which is actually worth a look on the video we have posted. For my picks, I have gone & given it a shake with the most exciting surfers I can find, the first one being Julian Wilson, it's looking like John is going to maybe have a bit of a World Title Gap year so to speak & I would love to see Julian bring a world title home to the Sunny Coast.
