Maldive madness Monday 9th june 2008 June 9, 2008 – Tags:

The whole reason for our trip to the maldives was for a 6 Star Prime WQS at a world class wave called Pasta Point, all of us vying to get some valuable points so that we can make the elusive World Championship Tour. Today is the first day of the event but the waves haven’t lived up to all of our expectations so they decided to put the event on hold till the tide turns a bit, as pasta point can be very tidal..So a small surf in the 1 foot waves was our plan to shake off the cobwebs from our big day of travelling yesterday, and to get a feel for our boards the reef the climate and for me to test out surfing with ear plugs cause of a recent busted eardrum. There are 8 people on the boat not including the captain and the deckhands that included Andrew Shield (photographer) Ryan Kenny ( videographer) Fish, Adam Melling, Ryan Campbell, Tonino Bensen, Luke Cheadle, Sam Page and Myself A top crew to say the least.
As the tide turned the waves started to rise and before you knew it the contest was in full blast and everyone from the Seppos to the odd maldivian in the event was ripping the 3 foot little lefts on offer to bits.. This meant it was time for all of us to surf except Melling who was seeded to the next round. Unluckily enough Cheadle and Ryan fell to there competitors in close battles to the death, but still surfed well none the less..As for the rest of us we helped fly the flag for the Handhu for another day.
