The best softboards Australia 2024 are coming up. There is a lot of competition nowadays & a lot of different types of softboards. We are going to focus on the best softboards for beginners today & cover the performance models at a later date.

Best Softboards Australia 2024 –

Over the years we have tried most of the softboards on the market. Whether it is selling them to our customers. hiring them out to our customers or surfing them ourselves as a perk of our hire fleet. We have a great knowledge of softboards at Tradewind Surf.

Which Softboard is the best & why –

The core makes a board for durability & also rigidity which is important to get that surfboard feel. Any board we review is going to have two to three stringers minimum. Meaning a strong core & good quality. Some great boards that we swear by are anything in the Ocean Earth range. Such as the Ezi Rider which surfs great & has sizes from 5’6 through to 9’0 & even a single fin log version.

Catch Surf models are also a great choice. they have a great range & plenty of colour ways. All with great team testing & backing. The Log & Skipper are great for beginners in the larger sizes.

The Softlite Chopstick is also a great beginner model, again in the larger sizes. Plenty of colours also & an Australian company. Same as Ocean Earth. If we focus on those three brands we can say that they are very good choices when it comes to softboards. We have had countless great feedback on all of these boards over the last ten or more years. So it is easy to vouch for them. We have also ridden plenty of them to, which helps you might say.

Which size should I buy –

If you are an all out beginner & need the volume go between 7’0 – 8’0 depending on size & weight. There is no right or wrong answer as they are built to float & surf but what you feel comfortable with. A child, probably 7’0 really & an adult 7’6 or 8’0 to keep it simple. That would definitely work in any of the models we have suggested. If you are a bigger person again then a 9’0 might be suitable.
