Surfboards for Victoria March 28, 2016 – Tags: , , , , , ,

Surfing in Victoria is an experience that every surfer should take part in atleast once in there life. Big, raw swells that roll in out of deep, cold water. Whether you are surfing on the East Coast or West Coast of Victoria (Yes Vicco has both an East & a West Coast) you are probably going to need some foam in your board.
The Waves –
Now everywhere has runs of small swell, definitely some places more than others, so I think focusing on the consistently solid swell that lashes both Victorian Coastlines is the way to go.
One thing that I have noticed about surfing in Victoria is that alot of water moves & even though there is alot of power it is not usually hollow. I am sure there is acceptions to the rule, but being a surfer from Queensland it is alot to get used to & you really have to think about boards.
The Surfboards –
We have noticed here that guys who are ordering boards in Victoria to surf some solid waves are definitely going for a step up, but often with heavy glass jobs too. This is for extra strength, but also extra weight to be able to move more easily through those big bumpy sections of places like Bells Beach.
Surfboards that we have had great feedback on for our customers in Victoria include models like the Lost Rock Up https://tradewindsurf.com.au/new-surfboards/product/fish-funboard-perfor…this board was originally a step up to the original Lost Rocket https://tradewindsurf.com.au/new-surfboards/product/fish-funboard-retro/…but went so well for everyone who rode it that Lost ended up making a whole series of these boards, the Rock Up followed with the Round Up https://tradewindsurf.com.au/new-surfboards/product/gun-performance/lost…& the Double Up which has probably been the least popular of the trio of step ups.
Surfboards from other brands to suit Vicco are plentiful also. The Chilli Fader has been extremely popular as a step up Chilli Surfboard Fader  with a bit of extra glass the Fader is a perfect water mover for the breaks of Victoria. There is even an option to step it up further with the Chilli Fader Step Up https://tradewindsurf.com.au/new-surfboards/product/performance/chilli-f… built for solid surf but the all round option is the Fader.
